He was tasked to obtain feedback from banks and to seek clarification with MAS.

Internationally, he was appointed an international consultant by the Australian government to the Indonesian authorities to strengthen their anti-money laundering measures where he had trained a few thousand bankers on AML/CFT in Singapore and Malaysia (including senior management and board of directors). On AML/CFT matters, he was appointed by the Securities Association of Singapore to conduct AML/CFT and KYC training for the securities industry in Singapore. To date, he has trained a few thousand dealers and remisiers from the leading securities firms in Singapore on AML/CFT.

In addition, Mr Tan regularly advises financial institutions (in providing legal opinions) and provides training on all compliance matters relating money laundering, banking secrecy, The Financial Advises Act (FAA), The Securities and Futures Act (SFA) and The Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA).

On the PDPA, he authored the "PDPA Compliance Manual", the only PDPA Manual in the market in Singapore.

Mr. Tan has been a much sought-after speaker on AML/CFT in Singapore, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Indonesia and England. He was a regular speaker at the Cambridge Financial Crime Symposium (where only international experts are invited) and was also interviewed on BBC (TV & Radio) for his expert views on AML/CFT.

Besides compliance laws, Mr. Tan also specialises in banking law and derivatives law. He is also a professional trainer in the areas of his specialization. For further details, please refer to the Corporate CV of SL Tan & Co.
